Welcome to The Highland Drove

The Highland Drove dates back to the mid-1700s and today it offers charming and contemporary bedrooms, a varied and seasonal menu based on local produce and an excellent location for exploring the Eden Valley and Lake District. The inn is within the Cumbrian village of Great Salkeld which is only a few miles from the market town of Penrith.

The Drove is run by Tom and Claire Lefevre who took over in 2022. The pub is an important part of the community and prides itself in offering a warm welcome to everyone from locals to visitors passing through. There are a selection of en suite bedrooms which include a smart TV’s, tea/coffee making facilities and free WiFi.

Downstairs there is a 30 cover restaurant who’s menu changes regularly to reflect local and seasonal produce and well stocked bar with a selection of real ales from the wealth of Cumbrian breweries on our doorstep.

This is a stunning location just 10 minutes from the edge of the Lake District and 30 minutes from Hadrian's wall. The town of Penrith has a great blend of shops, places to eat and attractions including its castle and tower
